Intake Valve Assembly 2203016100 OEM for 10-20hp  Chicago Pneumatic and Quincy Rotary Screw Compressors 

The inlet valve opens and closes depending on the air compressor operation to either let air into the compression assembly. A load solenoid is included and pre-attached to the air intake which sends an air signal to the plunger to raise or lower. When the compressor 'loads', the plunger lowers and air is sent into the compression chamber. When the pressure reaches the upper PSI setpoint, the plunger then closes and the compressor goes to 'unload' mode and stops building air. If your air compressor continues to build pressure past its normal cutoff setpoint you might have a bad inlet valve.

This is an OEM intake valve assembly manufactured by Atlas Copco, Quincy, and Chicago Pneumatic. This inlet valve was used on a wide variety of their rotary screw air compressors ranging between 10 and 20hp. This part may be shown in your parts manual as 2203 0161 00 and 2203-0161-00.
