The Graco 256946 Fluid Set works by providing the necessary components to control and apply different types of coatings efficiently through a spray gun.

The spray needle is responsible for controlling the flow of paint from the spray gun to the nozzle. The #2 needle in this set (.8 mm) is designed for finer materials like dyes, offering a controlled and smooth flow of fluid. The size of the needle determines how much material is released at once. 

The nozzle works in conjunction with the needle. As the needle moves, it opens or closes the passage for fluid, controlling how much material flows out.
