The 39858683 separator element was used on the 10-20 hp belt driven compressors from Ingersoll Rand between 1983-1989. Most of these serial numbers start with the letter J or K. It was also used on the 10-40hp belt drive compressors made from 1989-1994 that started with letters J or K, KA, KB,KC,KD.

Ingersoll Rand recommends replacing the separator element filter every 4,000 run hours or once per year, whichever occurs first. The filter should also be changed anytime an oil change is performed. This removes oil from the airstream before the air is sent downstream. Proactively changing the separator element will reduce the pressure drop across the sump tank, increasing your energy efficiency and preventing oil from getting into your air dryer or production equipment.

When changing the separator element, it is also recommended to change the 39763156 air filter and 39329602 oil filter as well

This is an OEM part manufactured by Ingersoll Rand. Many filters sold online are aftermarket filters and not rated to the same specifications as OEM. Using aftermarket filters can result in excess oil being sent downstream into your production equipment.
