The Eaton A27CGF40B040 is a definite purpose magnetic motor starter used on air compressors with a 10HP motor running on 208v or 230v three phase power. A27CGF40B040 uses a three phase 40amp contactor with an adjustable overload between 24-40 amps.

Manufactured by Eaton / Cutler Hammer. The A27CGF40B040 is specifically used on 10hp air compressors that are running on 208/3/60hz or 230/3/60hz power. The overload is adjustable between 24-40 amps.

This will not work with single phase air compressors.

Featuring components that meet UL horsepower ratings and design standards, Eaton mag starters are UL Recognized and use CSA Certified contactors. No internal starter heaters are required. Eaton single phase magnetic starters are shrouded or use finger proof terminals to reduce the possibility of electric shock.

3 phase motor starters provide overload protection to electric compressor motors. This helps to prevent costly damage to the windings from over-currents and temperature increases. A magnetic starter is required for all three phase compressors and any single phase application where there is no overload protection for the motor.
