Ingersoll Rand 46818555 Pressure Switch Conversion Kit for SS3L3 and SS5L5 Air Compressors

46818555 is a pressure switch conversion kit that replaces part number 54372834 if you are running the Ingersoll Rand SS5L5 or SS3L3 piston compressors. This kit includes a replacement pressure switch and several copper unloader lines. Also replaces IR part 56289671.

IR changed pressure switch manufacturers in approximately 2009. The on/off switch and unloader valve are now on the opposite side of the older version switch. The old pressure switch part number was 54372834. This conversion kit provides all parts necessary to successfully convert your switch to the newer version. If instead you are running an Ingersoll Rand SS5L5 and SS3L3 reciprocating compressors manufactured after 2010, you are able to purchase the 23474661 switch separately.

Please note 38471520 will only work with the SS5 and SS3 compressors mounted on a 60 gallon receiver tank. Several copper unloader tubes are included in this kit, you simply need to use the one that works on your specific compressor and the remaining two can be discarded.

The pressure switch turns the compressor on when it hits the lower pressure setpoint and turns the compressor off when the upper setpoint is reached. This is an OEM switch from Ingersoll Rand. Plenty of aftermarket switches are sold online, but many of them are not rated for the full load amp draw of the compressor and will cause pre-mature wear to the switch. The OEM switch from Ingersoll Rand is rated for a higher amp draw and is much heavier duty compared to others.

If you find your pressure switch is constantly leaking out of the unloader line, you should consider changing the 85582229 or 56269590 check valves.
