The intercooler is located behind the compressor pump and connects the low pressure cylinder to the high pressure side of the pump. The intercooler cools the air after it leaves the low pressure side before it enters the high pressure cylinder.

The 32211690 intercooler is the middle finned copper cooler tube used on the Ingersoll Rand 2540 and 2545 reciprocating compressor pumps.
