Portland Compressor is the only Ingersoll Rand dealer in Oregon and one of the largest Chicago Pneumatic compressor distributors in the United States. We provide sales, parts, accessories and service for these product lines as well as others. With nearly two dozen of us making things happen here at Portland Compressor, we pride ourselves on providing the same home-town service that got us off the ground in 1984. Portland Compressor is a rapidly growing company and is looking for the appropriate person to grow with us.

Position Overview

Portland Compressor has an immediate opening for a warehouse / freight shipping and receiving clerk. This position entails loading customer equipment, loading and unloading freight truck, managing warehouse organization, and shipping/receiving via LTL and other truck shipment methods.

General Responsibilities

  • Pull customer orders by locating the product and quantity listed for each item.
  • Prepare and package items to be shipped, verify accuracy of all orders.
  • Use LTL vendor freight to process shipment bill of lading and schedule shipments
  • Management of warehouse inventory, putting away stock and maintaining equipment on showroom floor.
  • Maintain cleanliness of warehouse and shipping/receiving office.
  • Load and unload customer equipment as required throughout the day
  • Verify all incoming shipments match the shipping documents and what was ordered.
  • Inspect incoming freight shipments for damage or missing items.
  • Safely utilize material handling equipment (forklift, pallet jack, handtruck) to stage orders for pickup
  • Perform additional duties as required and or requested.

Qualifications

  • Prior freight / LTL shipping and receiving or warehouse experience is preferred.
  • Experience driving a forklift and handling a pallet jack is required - forklift certification is a plus
  • Knowledge of painting equipment, pressure washers, or air compressors is preferred but not required.
  • Basic knowledge of Windows based computer software.
  • Attendance is a critical component of this position: candidate needs to be punctual and have regular attendance.
  • Be able to lift, load, and move products weighing up to 95lbs. This job requires frequent lifting of up to 50lbs.
  • Good organization and time management skills.
  • High School Diploma or GED is required
  • Able to work 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday between 8am-4:30pm.
