47695566001 contains the 22186720 thermal valve actuator, 22186696 thermal spring and 24546558 housing cage.

The 22186720 thermal valve actuator sits on the inside of the oil filter manifold connected to the bottom of the airend/separator assembly. This valve opens when the oil gets hot to let coolant flow through the cooler/radiator before the oil is sent back into the sump tank.

This is one of the most common wear items that should be changed every year depending on your compressor run hours. If your compressor keeps shutting off before reaching the cutoff pressure, there is a good chance the compressor is overheating because the thermal valve is not opening to let the oil flow through the cooler.
