The 22832885 thermal valve kit includes the spring, thermal actuator, o-ring, and retainer cap. This is an OEM part manufactured by Ingersoll Rand.

22832885 was used on virtually all UP6-20, UP6-25, UP6-30 Ingersoll Rand rotary screw air compressors manufactured between 2002 and 2020. The older models may show part # 22064687 in your parts booklet. 22064687 supersedes to this 22832885 part number. This part is also used on the newer version UP6S compressors as well.

This part sits on the manifold block underneath the separator element. A compressor thermal valve opens when the oil gets hot to let coolant/oil flow through the cooler before the oil is sent back into the sump tank. This prevents the compressor from overheating. If your compressor is consistently shutting down on high temp and your compressor has adequate oil, more than likely this valve needs to be replaced. It is recommended to replace the thermal valve every two years or 8,000 hours of operation.
