Portland Compressor has an immediate opening in our parts department as a Parts Counter Customer Service Representative for an individual with experience in the parts business. We prefer experience in a physical parts business such as auto parts. Air compressor, airless paint sprayer,  knowledge a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities include but not limited to the following

• Create and/or maintain positive relationships with customers
• Provide prompt and courteous service
• Find parts for customers using various methods such as; software, books, online resources
• Sell parts from stock or special order
• Enter customer information, take payments and create receipts
• Answer phones, provide price quotes and other information
• Respond to customer e-mails
• Calculate shipping costs and ship parts via USPS, UPS
• Assist customers with loading and unloading
• Follow-up on special orders, back-orders, order mistakes etc
• Pickup and/or deliver items from time to time.
• Other parts department work such as; inventory, stocking displays, putting away parts, keeping parts room clean
• Other assignments may be given at the discretion of the management

• At least 1 year of parts business experience
• Good computer competency
  • Windows XP Pro
  • Microsoft Office Applications, primarily Outlook
  • Ability to learn new software
• Good phone skills
• Good customer service skills
• Valid drivers license and decent record

• Experience with airless painting equipment or air compressors or pressure washers is a plus
• Good interpersonal skills, a "people person"
• Willingness to learn about the products we carry
• Knowledge of SAP Business One
• Internet savvy
• Retail sales experience
• Forklift operation, certification
• Mechanical aptitude is a plus
• Familiarity with UPS Worldship a plus

A qualified applicant will be a trustworthy self-starter with good self-management skills with little need for supervision once trained.
Integrity and accountability are a must.
Qualified candidates will have a HS Diploma or GED. College experience would be preferred, but not required.
Strong oral and written communications skills in English.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
