Air Compressor Maintenance
Maintaining your air compressor will ensure that it will
last for many years. Following these simple steps will not
only lengthen its life, but reduce repair and parts costs as
well.
- Regularly check oil and fluid levels, not only after
every use, but on weekly schedule
- Always remove any moisture from the tank. Since air
compressor tanks are made of steel, moisture will cause
the tank to rust, reducing the life of the compressor.
- Change the Oil. Like your car, the oil in a
compressor needs to be changed as well. Depending on the
model of your compressor, you should change the oil
every 300 hours or more.

- For gas compressors, ensure that the fuel is clean
and not filled with dirt, debris, or water. Any water or
debris in the compressor can cause harm to the gear
shaft and other internal parts.
- If the compressor includes a filter, clean the
filter on a weekly basis. This will help clear the air
of any particles that can harm your compressor, and will
also keep your power tools clean as well
- Check to make sure that all fittings are secured
tightly, and the air hose is free of leaks.
